First, we have information about an exciting event taking place at Tokyo Port. To celebrate the opening of the Port of Tokyo on May 20th, 1941, the Tokyo Minato Festival will be held again this year for 2 days at  Harumi Passenger Ship Terminal. One of the exciting events will be the public exhibition of 4 rare ships including the Kairyu, a dredging vessel that keeps Tokyo’s shipping lanes safe. This is a great chance to go onboard these ships that aren’t usually open for viewing. The festival will also feature the spectacular water-spray show put on by Tokyo’s firefighting ships and helicopters. You can also go inside a refrigerated shipping container, enjoy food truck cuisines and take part in other family events. The Tokyo Minato Festival takes place on May 18th and 19th, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Harumi Passenger Ship Terminal. Please note that different events take place on each day of the festival. There are various ways to get to the venue, including a free shuttle bus bound for Harumi Pier available from either JR Tamachi station or Toyosu station on the Tokyo Metro Subway Line.

まずは、東京港のビッグイベントをご紹介します。1941年5月20日の東京港開港を記念して、今年も「東京みなと祭」が開催されます。メイン会場となる晴海客船ターミナル周辺では2日間に渡って、東京港の役割が分かる楽しいイベントが行なわれます。特に注目なのが、東京港のしゅんせつ作業を行う「海竜」を含む4隻の一般公開。普段は見学できない船内もご覧いただけます。また大人気の消防艇や消防ヘリコプターによる、華やかで迫力満点の水の消防ページェントも行なわれます。さらに、冷凍コンテナ体験コーナーや、ケータリングカーのグルメなど、お子様も楽しめるイベントが盛りだくさんです。「東京みなと祭」は、5月18日（土）と19日（日）、朝10時から夕方5時まで晴海客船ターミナル周辺で開催します。入場は無料です。なお、日によってイベントが変わりますのでご了承ください。会場へのアクセスは、田町駅または豊洲駅から出ている晴海ふ頭行きの無料シャトルバスなどをご利用ください。

The Kyu-Furukawa Gardens in Kita ward, is one of the few parks in Tokyo where you can enjoy a genuine European garden as well as a Japanese garden designed by Kyoto’s well known gardener. The park is now hosting their annual Spring Rose Festival where you can enjoy around 200 bushes of 100 different types of roses that bloom in the elegant gardens arranged around the historical Western-style mansion. During the event, there will be live music, and the popular night-time illumination of the garden is taking place until May 19th, from sundown to 9 p.m. When you visit the park, make sure you stop by at the rose shop, to buy souvenirs and rose themed good. The Spring Rose Festival is held through Sunday, June 2nd. Hours are from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. During the illumination event held until May 19th, hours will be extended to 9 p.m. Last entry is 30 minutes before closing time. General admission is 150 yen and 70 yen for seniors. Kyu- Furukawa Gardens, is a 7 minute walk from JR Keihin Tohoku Line’s Kami-Nakazato Station.

北区にある旧古河庭園は、約100種200株ものバラが華やかに咲き誇る洋風庭園、重厚な洋館、そして京都の著名な庭師の日本庭園を贅沢に味わうことができる、都内でも貴重な庭園です。今年も春バラの見頃の時期に合わせ「春のバラフェスティバル」が開催中です。イベント期間中は、「バラと洋館・日本庭園のライトアップ」や「春バラの音楽会」等、イベントが盛りだくさんです。バラの香りに包まれた庭園で、幻想的な景色をお楽しみください。毎年人気のバラのライトアップは5月19日まで、日没から夜9時までお楽しみいただけます。また、ローズショップではバラにちなんだグッズを販売していますので是非お立ち寄りください。旧古河庭園「春のバラフェスティバル」は6月2日（日）まで開催。開園時間は午前9時～午後5時。19日までのバラのライトアップ期間中は、夜9時まで開園しますが、最終入園は夜8時30分となりますので、ご注意ください。入園料は一般150円、65歳以上は70円。アクセスはJR京浜東北線「上中里」より徒歩7分です。
