Public Service Announcement for Yokohama City

During the year end/new year period, there will be no garbage or recyclables collection between Friday 31st December and Monday 3rd January.

In areas where collections are on Mondays and Fridays, a special collection will take place at year end on Wednesday 29th December, and in the New Year on Wednesday 5th January.

In areas where collections are on Tuesdays and Saturdays, collections will take place until Tuesday 28th December and will resume in the New Year on Tuesday 4th January.

[Plastic Containers and Packaging], [Cans/Bottles/PET bottles] 

Collection will take place until 30th December and will resume on the usual days in the New Year from 4th January.

[Used paper and used cloth etc.] is picked up by the 'Recyclables Group Collection' conducted by residents'/neighborhood associations.

As a rule, Recyclables Group Collections will also be suspended, between 31st December and 3rd January.

Please enquire with your local residents' association etc for further details on the dates.

Collection times are subject to change so please make sure you put your garbage out by 8am.

Do not put garbage or recyclables out after collection has taken place or during periods when there is no collection.

Yokohama City provides a leaflet on how to separate garbage on its website in 10 languages; English, Chinese, Korean, Spanish, Portuguese, Vietnamese, Thai, French, Tagalog and Nepalese. 

The leaflet is also available at each ward office and at Yokohama Association for International Communications and Exchanges (YOKE).
