Public Service Announcement for Yokohama City
29th November 2023
This week’s edition is on an illumination event.
The Illumination Spectacle in Yokohama [Yorunoyo 2023] is being held in the waterfront area of the city centre this year too.
The main attraction of Yorunoyo is the five minute long spectacle show, “Highlight of Yokohama”, in which 40 facilities, such as the port’s waterfront line and historical buildings come alive in time to lights and music.
The show is being held daily, every 30 minutes between 5:30pm and 9pm during the event period, a total of eight times per day.
From Osanbashi Yokohama International Passenger Terminal, as well as being able to listen to the music while watching, you can enjoy large scale projection mapping across the wooden deck.
At Shinko Central Plaza, visitors can experience interactive projection mapping spanning the whole plaza, centered around a giant cube, over 14m high.
At Yamashita Park, illuminations planned and designed by world-renowned lighting designer Motoko Ishii and her daughter Akari-Lisa Ishii are taking place.
Many events for enjoying Yokohama at night, including locally organized illuminations and fireworks, are being be held around the Yorunoyo area too.
Yorunoyo is being held between 5pm and 9:05pm until 4th January next year.
On winter nights, Yokohama is transformed with beautiful lights. Please see the port city of Yokohama shining at its brightest in the year.
