Public Service Announcement for Yokohama City

Yokohama City holds an annual festival where people around the world can share their emotions without words.

The festival theme rotates every year between "contemporary art”, "dance" and "music”, with each theme taking place triennially.

"Dance Dance Dance @ YOKOHAMA", one of the largest dance festivals in Japan, was first held in 2012, so 2021 will be the fourth time it is taking place.

Around 200 dance programs will be rolled out, from dance performances by top artists to participatory stage events, where a variety of dance can be enjoyed in the streets each weekend.

The festival period will be from Saturday 28th August to Sunday 17th October.

On 28th and 29th August, the festival’s opening event, the "Yokohama Bayside Ballet", will be held at ‘Zounohana Park’.

It is a magical ballet performance that can be enjoyed against the backdrop of the beautiful nightscape of Yokohama Port.

“Tendre x yurinasia” on 2nd September, also at Zounohana Park, is another event to keep an eye out for.

The free stage event, “Yokohama Dance Paradise”, where you can enjoy a variety of dance performances in open spaces across the city will also be held, mainly on weekends.

As well as this, there will be many more events during the festival period that you can only enjoy in Yokohama.

The festival will be held with infection control measures in place, in light of the situation regarding Covid-19 infections.

The contents of the event may be changed or canceled due to unavoidable circumstances.
