This week’s edition is on Yokohama History Museum.

Yokohama History Museum marks the 30th anniversary of its opening on Friday 31st January this year.

Since its opening in 1995, the museum has collected and researched numerous historical materials and held exhibitions introducing them under the theme, ‘The History of People’s Lives in Yokohama’.

The museum, along with the adjacent Relics Park attracts many visitors. The park is centered on the Otsuka/Saikachido Relics, which are designated National Historic Sites.

To celebrate its 30th anniversary, the museum is running a variety of projects to showcase the museum's attractions.

On Friday 31st January, “Yokohama History Museum’s Exhibition Poster Display” will begin.

Since its opening, the museum has held several timely events each year to provide visitors with a variety of perspectives on the history of the Yokohama city area. These events can be enjoyed along with the permanent exhibition.

This exhibition looks back on the museum's history with a selection of posters created for each exhibition.

As well as this, from Saturday 26 April, a special 30th anniversary exhibition will be held entitled ‘Yokohama Heritage - Preserving and Passing Down Regional Memories’.　This exhibition introduces the people who have worked hard to pass down the “treasures” of Yokohama's cultural heritage.

The museum is a 5 minute walk from Exit 1 of Center Kita Station on the municipal subway lines.
