"Yokohama Triennale 2020" is an international exhibition of contemporary art that is held every three years. This year will be the 7th time it is held.
The title is "AFTERGLOW - Catching fragments of light."
"AFTERGLOW" refers to the light that was emitted into space after the Big Bang, and that still shines down on us.
The message contained in the title is: “In a rapidly changing world, think together about how to find and grab the precious aspects of the light, without eliminating the toxic aspects of it, so you can live a life in which both elements coexist.”
This time, the artistic director is "Lux Media Collective", an artist trio based in New Delhi, India. It is the first time the exhibition has had a foreign director.
The trio’s motto is that knowledge and ideas related to art and other expressions should be widely shared with everyone. The trio is active in a wide range of fields, from creating pieces of work to planning exhibitions, to writing and producing performances.
At the venues, Yokohama Museum of Art and PLOT 48, you can see works by 65 artists from all over the world.
The works of exhibiting artists are also on display at the NYK Maritime Museum.
Tickets must be reserved by date and time.
When visiting, please wear a mask, wash and disinfect your hands frequently, and maintain social distancing between yourself and other visitors.
