Public Service Announcement for Yokohama City

26th March 2025

This week's edition is on the banning of smoking in parks.

Yokohama City is working to ensure a safe and secure play environment for children.

As part of these efforts, smoking will be banned in Yokohama City’s municipal parks from 1st April 2025.

This is in order to promote measures against passive smoking in parks, where many people gather and relax.

Approximately 2,700 parks managed by Yokohama City are subject to the ban, including Yamashita Park and Yokohama Park.

Tobacco products that are banned include paper cigarettes and heated tobacco products.

In order to prevent unwanted passive smoking, please refrain from smoking, not just in parks but also in the streets around parks and other places where smoking is not prohibited, if there are people around you.

Littering is also prohibited throughout the city.

Please refrain from smoking while walking too.

We ask for your understanding and cooperation so that everyone can use the parks comfortably and safely.
