Yokohama Noh Theater, located in Nishi Ward’s Momijigaoka, will be closed for major renovations for two and a half years, until June 2026.
During the closure, in order to introduce Noh and Kyogen to even more people,`OTABISHO Yokohama Noh Theater' has opened in Minatomirai’s Landmark Plaza.
This is the first time in Japan that a facility introducing Noh and Kyogen has been located in a shopping mall.
There are displays of Noh masks and costumes, musical instruments, fans, and a model of a Noh stage, as well as a Noh/Kyogen book corner, and a photo spot where visitors can take photos of themselves pretending to be the main character in the Noh play "Dojoji".
As well as this, there is a shop selling goods related to Noh and Kyogen.
The shop also offers new original products such as tenugui hand towels created through the traditional craft of "Chusen" and sweets featuring motifs of Noh dances.
Please drop by and experience Noh and Kyogen at the easily accessible Landmark Plaza.
