Public Service Announcement for Yokohama City
24th April 2024
This week’s edition is a call for participants in the Yokohama Marathon.
Yokohama Marathon 2024 is a marathon race through Yokohama, one of Japan's most famous port cities. It will be held on Sunday 27th October.
The course is an attractive one that allows participants to enjoy Yokohama's best known tourist attractions including the beautiful waterfront of Minato Mirai, and provides the unusual experience of running along the Bayshore Route of the Metropolitan Expressway, which is normally closed to runners.
A variety of events will be held, including a full marathon, a pair relay race in which pairs of runners aim to complete a distance of 42.195 km in a relay format, the Minato Mirai 7km run, a wheelchair challenge, and a fun run in which elementary school students and their parents can participate in pairs, and junior high school students can run alone.
Continuing on from last year, support will be shown for the runners with performances at water stations and the "Lucky Snack Service".
Please look forward to exciting performances such as cheerleading and band performances at the water stations.
With the “Lucky Snack Service”, in addition to the standard snack menu, you can enjoy food products mainly from the local Yokohama and Kanagawa areas.
Runner entries are being accepted until Wednesday 15th May.
