Public Service Announcement for Yokohama City
10th April 2024
This week’s edition is on "Yokohama Triennale".
"Yokohama Triennale" is an international exhibition of contemporary art that is held every three years. This year is the 8th time it is being held.
With two Beijing-based artists, Liu Ding and Carol Yinghua Lu, as Artistic Directors (ADs), the exhibition’s theme, "WILDGRASS - OUR LIVES", provokes thought about what artists around the world are currently thinking about. The theme chosen by the ADs takes as its starting point Lu Xun's prose collection, "Wild Grass”.
Despite being tossed about by the waves of the times, such as revolutions, the spirit of caring for each individual life and striving to live strong gives us hints for survival in the face of climate change and war, etc.
93 artists from 31 countries and regions around the world will participate, 20 of whom will present new works.
Artworks will be exhibited at the newly reopened Yokohama Museum of Art, the former Daiichi Bank Yokohama Branch - attractive itself as a historical building, and BankART KAIKO.
Don’t miss this chance to take a spring stroll in Yokohama and enjoy some contemporary art!
