Public Service Announcement for Yokohama City
20th March 2024
This week's edition is on congestion at ward office Family Registry Section counters.
Every year, during moving season from mid-March to early April, there are waiting times of several hours or more to complete procedures at Family Registry Section counters.
Today we will be introducing relatively uncrowded time slots and online procedures.
Particularly busy times include the hours around noon as well as Mondays, Fridays, and the 2nd and 4th Saturdays of the month.
It is recommended that visits to city offices are made on Tuesdays to Thursdays between 8:45am and 10:00am, when the offices are relatively empty.
When moving out of Yokohama City, you can use your My Number Card to move out online.
It takes about 10 minutes to complete the moving out notice from MyNaportal.
It’s convenient because you can complete the procedure without going to the ward office.
If you do not have a My Number Card, please complete the procedure by post.
Did you know that you can also get certificates, such as copies of resident cards and seal registration certificates, at convenience stores?
You can get them through the convenience store issuing service and online applications, if you have a My Number card.
What's more, the convenience store issuing service is easy to operate, and the fees for some certificates, such as copies of your resident card, are 50 yen cheaper than at ward office counters.
The Yokohama City website provides information on procedures related to moving.
