Public Service Announcement for Yokohama City
26th February 2025
This week’s edition is on “MYSTERY OF TUTANKHAMEN -An Experiential Ancient Egyptian Exhibition-”.
More than 100 years have passed since archaeologist Howard Carter discovered the royal tomb of Tutankhamen in 1922.
Ancient Egyptian civilization is still the subject of various research and excavations, with new discoveries being made one after another.
This experiential exhibition, supervised by Egyptian archaeologist Yukinori Kawae, focuses on Tutankhamen, one of the world's most famous kings.
The Tutankhamun Museum opened in Yokohama Minato Mirai in December last year.
The museum is hosting an exhibition called "MYSTERY OF TUTANKHAMEN - An Experiential Ancient Egypt Exhibition" that allows visitors to experience the world of ancient Egypt, running until Thursday 25th December.
The museum offers an immersive experience with a variety of exhibits that make full use of analog and digital technologies, including “super replicas” of over 130 pieces of the treasures of King Tutankhamen, who is still shrouded in mystery. The replicas make up one of only three sets in the world.
The exhibition also features a realistic reproduction of King Tutankhamen's tomb, and an immersive projection video that gives visitors a sense of Tutankhamen's life.
Please visit the museum and warp back to the Egypt of 3,000 years ago, as your thoughts take you to the time of Tutankhamen!
