Public Service Announcement for Yokohama City
12th October 2022
This week’s edition is on COVID-19 vaccinations.
Covid 19 vaccinations targeting the Omicron strain have begun.
Anyone aged 12 or older who has had the first and second vaccinations, and for whom five months or more have passed since their last shot, is eligible for vaccination.
In Yokohama City, vaccinations are not given in order of priority based on the number of vaccinations received, age, or the presence or absence of underlying diseases, etc.
If you have an unused 3rd or 4th dose vaccination voucher, you can make a reservation straight away.
If you have yet to receive your next vaccination voucher, you will be able to make a reservation once it arrives.
Compared to conventional vaccines, the Omicron vaccine is expected to have a stronger effect in preventing severe symptoms from the Omicron strain, and to be more effective in preventing infection and onset, although this may only last for a short period of time.
The main side effects include pain at the injection site, headache, fatigue, and fever, but no serious concerns have been confirmed.
Making a reservation is now relatively easy.
Please consider getting vaccinated early.
