27th September 2023

This week's edition is on 'Yokohama Jazz Promenade 2023'.

Yokohama Jazz Promenade started in 1993, with citizens and musicians coming together under the slogan, 'Make the whole city a stage'.

This year marks the 30th anniversary of its inception.

This year, a varied menu of events has been prepared, focusing on two days - Saturday 7th and Sunday 8th October.

Firstly, Kannai Hall’s Large Hall will host the concert, “Tatsuo Sunaga’s ‘Yokohama Night Jazz’ featuring Takeo Moriyama Quintet’s Tribute to John Coltrane” on the 7th, and “Yokohama Allstars by Seiichi Nakamura” on the 8th. Other concerts will also be held, at Kannai Small Hall and Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse No. 1.

There is no doubt that you will hear exciting and moving stage performances which can only be experienced in Yokohama. Tickets are on sale now.

Free street performances for everyone to enjoy will also be held in 15 locations in the city, including Minato Mirai and Bashamichi, using event spaces on street corners and commercial premises.

A variety of musicians will be featured, from veterans to student bands.

Please visit the venues to see what kind of jazz you can listen to.

Yokohama is also home to many jazz clubs. Enjoy the unique atmosphere of these clubs, which is different to that of halls or street corners. And be sure to enjoy the jazz music up close to the bands.
