Public Service Announcement for Yokohama City
20th September 2023
This week's edition is on the ‘Autumn Satoyama Garden Festa’.
The Autumn Satoyama Garden Festa is being held in Satoyama Garden, adjacent to Yokohama Zoo Zoorasia, between Saturday 16th September and Sunday 15th October. The highlight of the garden is the city’s largest flowerbed, at approximately 10,000㎡. Entry is free.
The theme of this autumn's large flower bed is "Dynamic Hills". It is filled with 200,000 flowers of approximately 100 varieties that come in vibrant colors including the traditional Japanese colors of orange and purple.
Masashi Mikami, the PR ambassador for Yokohama’s flowers and greenery, designed and curates the “Welcome Garden”. Here, visitors can enjoy beds of pretty flowers in bright colours such as peach, white and yellow, which are reminiscent of gorgeous kimonos and resemble the floral patterns used in Japanese clothing.
During the event period, there are food trucks that use agricultural produce from Yokohama City, and sales of flowers and vegetables are also planned for Local Production, Local Consumption Day.
A stamp rally is also being held, as a joint project with the neighboring facility. If you collect four stamps at Satoyama Garden, you will receive benefits such as a 50% discount on Zoorasia’s weekday entry fee, or ¥500 off fees for Forest Adventure Yokohama or Trail Adventure Yokohama.
Please come to Satoyama Garden, where you can enjoy the pleasant autumn breeze.
