Public Service Announcement for Yokohama City
9th August 2023
This week's edition is on ’Yokohama Zoos at Night 2023’.
’Yokohama Zoos at Night 2023’ is being held for a total of nine days on the weekends and national holidays in August. On these days, opening hours at Yokohama Zoo Zoorasia, Nogeyama Zoo and Kanazawa Zoo will be extended to 8:30pm.
Visitors will be able to enjoy a different side to both the animals and the park’s atmosphere in the evenings, as the sun gradually sets and the harsh heat of summer recedes.
At Zoorasia, in addition to guided tours of the animals by zookeepers, and lantern-making workshops, ‘Zoorasia Night Festa’ is taking place, where visitors can enjoy a variety of gourmet foods from around the world at a beautifully illuminated venue. A quiz rally and concerts are also being held.
At Nogeyama Zoo, the area in front of the illuminated flowerbed at the entrance is a photo spot.
Zookeepers offer two types of guided animal tours per day. Admission to the zoo at night is free, as it is during the day.
At Kanazawa Zoo, as well as projection mapping and the 'Talking Night' animal guides by zookeepers, 'Elephant☆Night' will be held on 11th and 12th August, in connection with World Elephant Day.
Why not visit the zoo at night to create a lasting memory of your summer holiday? Staff at the zoos look forward to welcoming you.
