“Yokohama Zoological Garden ZOORASIA” celebrates its 20th anniversary this year with events that would make you get the most out of your summer holidays.
Night Zoorasia takes place on Saturdays, Sundays and on the 12th of August.
The zoo extends its opening hours until 8:30pm, in order to show you animal behaviors rarely seen in regular opening hours, such as sleeping positions of diurnal animals that are active during the day and lively movements of nocturnal ones.
The garden is lit up with illuminations, so the entire Zoorasia will be filled with a magical atmosphere.
They are setting up beer gardens near Aussie Hill Grill Restaurant and Savanna Terrace, both inside the park.
You can enjoy beer and food in dazzling lights while observing animals.
On top of that, there will be many more events in the evening hours. Zookeepers will be giving “totteoki” or special nighttime tours where you can observe animals that behave rather differently from the usual daytime tours. There will also be a bird show in the evening where you can observe owls and parrots up close.
On the same dates when Night Zoorasia occurs, “Zoorasia Night Market” takes place as well, from 4pm at Korokoro Hiroba Square.
The square will be decorated with photogenic objects such as original animal pattern lanterns, birthday-cake-designed ornaments celebrating the 20th anniversary of the zoo and much more!
Food trucks will be there to serve you various gourmet dishes.
“Night Zoorasia” and “Zoorasia Night Market” happens on the 12th and all the Saturdays and Sundays in August!
