'Yokohama Asahi Jazz Festival', the outdoor jazz event that has come to represent Yokohama will be in its 30th year this year!
The festival is held in an environment rich in nature, and each year, it is crowded with over 2,000 people.
Performing on the amateur stage will be 5 elite groups that have won their place through auditions. The professional stage performances will kick off with Dixieland Jazz, which originated in New Orleans and is the basis of jazz.
The Manami Morita Trio will perform familiar pieces through the relaxing tones of the piano, and “The Yokohama Swing All Stars”, a special band for the Yokohama Asahi Jazz Festival, will also be performing - for one night only.
On top of this, “Yukari Ito and the Masahiro Kanayama Trio” will heighten the jazzy feeling of the night with their elegant, silky voices.
And to finish, “Swingy Okuda & the Blue Sky Orchestra”, a big band with the longest history in Japan, will receive Mickey Curtis, to liven up the venue with danceable performances and vocals.
This year, the festival will tie up with the 50th anniversary of the establishment Asahi Ward to create a big band made up of members of the public, which will also perform.
