The “Yokohama Port Festival 2019” will be held on Saturday 1st and Sunday 2nd June. This year, the Yokohama Port Festival”, which heralds the arrival of summer, will be in its 38th year.
The theme of this year’s festival, which marks 160 years since the opening of the port in 1859, is “The 160th Anniversary of the Port Opening - Let’s Shape Minato No Mirai Together!”. Fun events that can be enjoyed by children and adults alike will be held at places such as Rinko Park.
On the water, there will be events including a parade featuring 11 government boats, and an aqua-board flying show, and on land, there’ll be the “SDGs Park” event and a mini marathon relay race by 100 teams made up of children who attend elementary schools in Yokohama City. Visitors will also be able to enjoy “Dream Of Harmony”, a huge chorus event by over 600 city residents, and the “Yokohama Singing Championship”. An array of other attractive events are also planned, such as “Beam Spectacle in Harbor”, the light and sound fireworks show that is the climax of the Yokohama Port Festival.
