This week’s edition is on the ‘2023 World Triathlon/Paratriathlon Series - Yokohama Competition’.
The '2023 World Triathlon/Paratriathlon - Yokohama Competition’ will be held on Saturday 13th and Sunday 14th May at special venues around Yokohama Yamashita Park.
Triathlon is a race in which participants compete on the basis of their overall strength in three events: swimming, cycling and running. The elite division, for which top athletes will be gathering on the 13th, will be contested over a 1.5 km swim, a 40 km cycle, and a 10 km run.
This tournament is the world's top competition leading up to the Olympics. Participants compete in a series of races around the world to earn points and determine the champion of the year .
The 2023 Series is a points-eligible race for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, and begins in Abu Dhabi. Yokohama is the second race.
On 14th, the Age Group Category will be held. Approximately 1700 competitors of all ages from the general public will take part in the heated competition.
The roses at Yamashita Park will be in full bloom during the race period. As well as watching the triathlon, please enjoy the roses, which are a seasonal feature of Yamashita Park.
"Hamatora FES" will be held again this year, with a renewed name and venue since the 2022 tournament. The scale of the event has been expanded from last year to include stage events and exhibition booths. Plans are underway for not just the triathletes, but also many tourists to enjoy the event at ZOU-NO-HANA Park, the birthplace of the Port of Yokohama and the hub of Yokohama's bustle.
