From 1st April, an amendment to the civil code will see the age of adulthood change from 20 to 18.

In line with the amendment, there will be procedural changes and revisions to age related eligibility.

In family register related matters, the age of eligibility will be lowered for "naturalization notifications", "nationality selection notifications", "nationality acquisition notifications" etc.

The age of eligibility for "marriage registration" in Japan will differ according to the laws of the country of which the person getting married is a national.

4月1日、日本の民法改正により成年年齢が、20歳から、18歳に変更になります。

それに伴い、手続きや対象年齢等の変更があります。

戸籍関係では、「帰化届」や「国籍選択届」、「国籍取得届」などで、対象年齢が引き下げられます。

日本での「婚姻届」の対象年齢は、結婚する方ご本人の国籍の法律により、異なります。
